The Springboks led 6-3 at the half-time break thanks to two penalties from the Scottish fly-half and one from the Springbok Manie Libbok. In the second half, South Africa’s speed and power were at their best, with the first score coming from a close-range try by the former Springbok scrum-half Du Toit.
Two minutes later, the second-half score was also from a try, this time also by Du Toit, who pounced on the loose ball from Libbok’s well-executed cross-field goal-kick. Three minutes after that, the second Springbok try was also from a penalty, this time also from a try-of-the-gadget try-cum-try by Kurt-Lee Havendse.
The Mastercard Player of the Match, Libbok said,
Obviously I saw the space out wide and knew what I wanted to do, and managed to get it there. I practise that stuff a lot so it was good that it came off. I am just stoked the first game went like it did.
